Drapery controls made by Lightwood Manufacturing Inc.
Installation Instructions
Mounting Plate
1. Place mounting plate as near floor as conveniently possible*, behind drapery and directly below the cord outlets in traverse rod. (Fig. 1 at right shows dotted outline of controller when in place.) A straight line (vertical) pull on drapery cord is necessary for correct performance of the controllers.
*(This will allow maximum choice of placement of the 10-foot remote switch extension cord.)
2. After securing mounting plate with screws provided, snap controller onto plate by resting lower edge of case in cradle of the two hooks, press upper end of same against wall. Controller will noticeably snap into locked position firmly against wall and mounting plate.
Threading Controller
CAUTION: Do not plug controller into outlet until completely threaded and cover returned to place.
Models OM, DM/R, 8-546-1:
After controller is mounted to wall remove snap-on cover to expose drive mechanism. (Fig. 2). Line up drapery cords in manner illustrated in upper right and grab right hand cord firmly, pulling it through, between pressure roller B and drive roller A. Take left hand cord and repeat procedure by pulling it through, between drive roller A and pressure roller C. Then pull up on right hand cord until cord loop is pulled tightly around bottom of drive roller A. (Remove slack as indicated below - see Slack Adjustment.) While holding cords in position shown in (Fig. 2), replace cover. Threading is complete and controller may now be plugged into 110 to 120 VAC power outlet.
Control switch on this model is a "momentary'' switch. When held down on the side next to remote cord, controller pulls down on right cord; when held down on side away from cord, controller pulls down on left hand cord. When released from either side, switch returns ' to "off'' position and power is disconnected from motor.
Models A, AIR, DAIR, SCA, DA, 9938, 9939, 8-500-1, 8-508-1: After controller is mounted to wall remove snap-on cover to expose drive mechanism. (See Fig. 3.) Line up drapery cords in manner illustrated in upper right and grasp right hand cord firmly, pulling it through, between pressure roller B and driver roller A, pulling tightly around bottom of A and then between A and pressure roller C. Place cords in slots in actuator slide D as shown, holding it in position until cover is replaced. Threading is complete and controller may now be plugged into 110 to 120 VAC power outlet.
placed. Threading is complete and controller may now
REVERSING DIRECTION OF DRAPE TRAVEL is accomplished only after it has reached end of run (fully open or fully closed). At that time depressing switch on the opposite side will start drape travel in other direction.
Directions for Use
MODELS DA/RI, A/RD, 9940:
Position 1: Controller drive runs in counter-clockwise direction to end of run and automatically shuts off.
Position 2: Activates momentary switch (Sw2) and from momentary switch controller may be run in either direction from any point . installation and operation of (Sw2) should always be within visual range of drapery to permit person operating same to see when to stop drapery travel.
Position 3: Controller drive runs in clockwise direction until end of run and automatically shuts off.
Slack Adjustment
While slack is no problem in the correct performance of your controller, excessive slack is undesirable and should be removed by taking up at master carrier at end of traverse rod.
Internal Thermoswitch Shut-Off
Your controller is designed for normal use. If run excessively, such as every few minutes, the self-contain d thermoswitch will shut off the motor for several minutes. Functionally, the thermoswitch prolongs the life of product and prevents inadvertent or accidental abuse of mechanism.
Load
Models are rated at the following maximum pull on drapery cord and drapery weight. Units should not be allowed to pull more than the recommended weight.
Model | Maximum Pull (lbs.) | Maximum Drapery Weight (lbs.) |
